Chandni Chowk to China (2009)
The film earlier known as Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo and also Made in China,[1] is written by Sridhar Raghavan. Chandni Chowk to China is said to be semi-autobiographical film portraying actor Akshay Kumar’s life. He himself agreed that about 50% of the film is based on his life. The story is about a chef who is mistaken to be a martial arts expert.
Shooting began in January 2008 and included a schedule in China.
Nikhil Advani later announced that Deepika Padukone will be essaying a double role in the film. Deepika Padukone plays a Chinese Woman and an Indian Woman. Chinese superstar Gordon Liu will make his Bollywood debut.
The music is by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. The movie also features music by Kailash Kher, Bappi Lahiri-Bappa Lahiri and a rap song sung by Akshay Kumar and composed by Punjabi rapper Bohemia. The music was released on December 2nd 2008.
RCom launches GSM mobile services
Reliance Communication (RCom) today became the first telecom operator to offer mobile services on both CDMA and GSM platforms as it launched it GSM operations across the country.
To begin with, RCom's GSM services would be available in 11,000 towns to be extended to 22,000 in the next few months, ADAG Group Chairman Anil Ambani told reporters here.
RCom was the first company being awarded dual spectrum ahead of others and it has invested over Rs 10,000 crore to roll out the GSM network in the last 15 months.
Prior to this, RCom was offering GSM based mobile services in eight circles of Eastern states, while its CDMA services were available throughout the country.
Ambani said RCom would look forward to participating in 3G auctions for both GSM and CDMA services, and the company has earmarked up to Rs 4,000 crore as capital expenditure for the high-end mobile services.
The company has also bagged licences to launch GSM services in Sri Lanka and Uganda.
